Moabit, for a subletter
An island, with canals on every side, ten minutes from Hauptbahnhof and still cheaper than anywhere else this central. Sublets are a mix of WG rooms and small whole flats. It is quiet, which suits some people and bores others, and the nightlife is a fifteen-minute bike ride away.
Getting one
Most sublets in Moabit are taken within hours of being posted, wherever they were posted. Three things decide whether you get one: being early, writing to the poster like a person rather than pasting a template, and being able to accept the dates without negotiating them. Nothing else matters much.
