Neukölln, for a subletter
The single busiest neighbourhood in the corpus, and the one most people mean when they say they are looking for a room in Berlin. Everything north of Hermannplatz behaves like Kreuzberg on price; further down Hermannstraße and out towards Rixdorf it drops off noticeably. The volume cuts both ways: more options, and more posts from people who are themselves subletting a sublet, so ask who is actually on the contract.
Getting one
Sublets in Neukölln are advertised in Telegram groups, not on the portals, and they are answered within hours.
